Self confessed hetero Shawn Mendes (left) finally admitted he’s gay after all via twitter on Sunday night, shortly after his performance at the 2017 Music Video Awards.

“Guys, my sexuality shouldn’t be anyone’s business. Yes, I’m gay and I’m proud.”

The tweet has since been removed. Mendes’s rep claimed the singer’s account had been hacked and the message was written by an imposter.

While Mendes has yet to react to the alleged “fake” Tweet, he’s addressed rumors about his sexuality in the past. Last year, he made this video:

It’s rumored that Mendes made the above video after being linked to his longtime BFF, Cameron Dallas:
