Is Zayn Malik’s Singing Career Over Amid Anxiety Issues?
Former One Direction singer Zayn Malik pulled out of his concert tour last year due to anxiety. And it seems that, a year on, he is still finding it difficult to face his fear head on and perform his solo material to a public audience.
After cancelling then rescheduling shows in Japan, the singer has once again backed out of the performances.
A variety of reasons have been given, including that there was ‘a change in the recording schedule’ and that Zayn is too busy ‘planning his debut world tour’.
But insiders seem to think these are other reasons.
‘If he never performs, there’s a danger his solo career will flop,’ a source said.
Since the release of his debut album, Zayn has performed a total of five times. The most recent one took place at the season 10 finale of “The Voice” back in May 2016.
Zayn first spoke candidly of his mental health battle in an interview with The Sunday Time Style magazine in March. Explaining that he had suffered with similiar issues when he was a part of boyband One Direction, Zayn revealed in his honest interview that he had also struggled with an eating disorder.
He claimed it was sparked by a feeling of being ‘in control’ and claimed eating was the only thing he had ‘control over’ in his life.
