Harry Styles Won’t Talk About His Sexuality
Harry Styles is hurtling towards chart domination around the world this week with his critically acclaimed and absolutely bloody amazing debut solo album and we are totally, head-over-heels in love with him.
In between announcing surprise gigs in London, the singer has been getting his promo on for his debut album.
But not always do the interviews he’s been taking part in focus on the music, with his latest one actually taking a turn to ask about his sexuality.
UK tabloid ‘The Sun’ asked Styles about sexuality in pop, a topic in the headlines after Miley Cyrus spoke openly about her pansexuality. What’s his take?
He says: “Being in a creative field, it’s important to be progressive. People doing stuff like that is great. It’s weird for me — everyone should just be who they want to be. It’s tough to justify somebody having to answer to someone else about stuff like that.”
So has Styles personally labeled his sexuality?
He replies: “No, I’ve never felt the need to really. No.”
But he admires artists like Miley Cyrus, who do discuss it: “Being in a creative field, it’s important to be progressive. People doing stuff like that is great.”
Just recently, he told a French talk show that he sees LGBT equality as something that’s “fundamental” and not political.
Last year, when his ‘One Direction’ bandmate Niall Horan was asked about dating men, Styles told him: “Hey, don’t knock it ’til you try it.”
