‘Matrix’ Reboot in the Works, with Keanu Reeves as a Maybe
The ‘Matrix’ reboot is said to be in the works, with actor Keanu Reeves as a maybe. The new instalment might be a prequel and explore expanded universe concepts centering on young Morpheus before he met Neo. This could potentially be quite interesting, as Morpheus always gave the impression that he’d encountered more than Neo ever would.
Siblings Lana and Lilly Wachowski, who dreamed up and shot the original “Matrix” and its sequels, were not yet involved in the possible project.
Zak Penn, who has worked on screenplays for blockbuster movies including ‘The Incredible Hulk,’ ‘The Avengers’ and ‘X-Men: The Last Stand,’ was said to be in talks to write the script.
The participation of Reeves, who played the starring role of Neo, in all three films, was also an open question. Last month, the actor said he would take part in another ‘Matrix’ film if the opportunity arose and if the Wachowskis were involved. “I dunno, that’d be weird, but why not,” he told Yahoo Movies.
The ‘Matrix’ series centers on Neo, a Christlike figure who discovers that humanity is being kept in a placid dream state by machines and starts to fight back.
He’s 52.
I don’t know. The first Matrix was one of those unique concept movies that just took filmmaking to another level, and it might be best to just leave it alone. A lot of people were not even happy with the sequels, so if it’s done it would need to be taken in a different direction.
At any rate, I’ve started lusting another Keanu’s for over thirty years and have loved most (but not all) of his movies and think he was at his smoking hot sexiest in Point Break. I find it laughable that so many critics have panned his career, while he’s gone on to earn over $350 million. And he’s so generous that he gave his stunt crew on the Matrix films $100 million just for making him look so good. If that’s not enough, he now makes his own motorcycles. Cool guy.
