Tyler Young & James Paxton Star in New Gay Teen Crime Series ‘Eyewitness’
Young actors Tyler Young (dark hair) and James Paxton play secret gay lovers on the upcoming tense crime thriller in USA Network.
Teen love can be heartbreaking, but in ‘Eyewitness’, it could kill – literally.
Adapted from a popular Norwegian show, the crime series explores the repercussions of the killing in a small, sleepy town and how it threatens to expose the secret relationship between two gay teens.
Outsider Philip (Tyler Young) and popular kid Lukas (James Paxton) witness a murder during a romantic night at a cabin in the woods. When the boys become the killer’s next targets, Philip wants to tell his foster mom, who happens to be the town’s sheriff, what happened. Fearing he will be outed, Lukas hides evidence and gay bashes Philip at school.
The actors, who are straight in real life, both agree that the drama’s crime element serves as a metaphor for the anxiety about coming out.
‘Eyewitness’ premieres on USA October 16 at 10/9c. Watch trailer:
Was looking forward to this show and I didn’t know when it was on. Thank God for On Demand because it started LAST night but you didn’t publish until today!!! 😑
I watched the 12 minute preview on the USA Network website Saturday after seeing an ad for the show and there is definitely great chemistry between these gay and bi-curious characters for sure.
But I did have a little trouble with the premise that the straight kid flipped out and didn’t want to tell anyone that they’d witnessed these murders because he was afraid his family and friends would find out he was experimenting with his new gay friend. The problem is that they were alone in the cabin and nobody saw them kissing and all they’d have to do is tell his father that they stopped by the cabin to rest and get some food and drink after the motorcycle riding, which was what they’d actually done before the heavy petting started.
Another lapse in the writing that no one caught was when one of the bad guys borrows a cell phone from a random stranger to call someone connected to their crime and the person on the other end automatically knew it was him.
Looks like it could definitely be a good show. but they need to do a better job of catching these sort of mistakes and making sure things sound plausible.
I plan on watching the entire first episode tonight and will see how it goes from there.
