Matt Damon is Back as Jason Bourne in First Set Image
A very fit Matt Damon returns as Jason Bourne in first set image of the new, not-yet-named fifth Bourne film. The photo depicts Bourne wearing bandages around his fists, which would seem to imply that he’s been street-fighting.
After The Bourne Ultimatum opened in theaters to box office hit grossing a whopping $230 million against a $100 million budget, Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass were pretty adamant about not returning for a fourth Bourne film, having already tied up the loose ends of the trilogy. But since movies are about making money, Universal Pictures decided to make a sequel sans Damon – The Bourne Legacy – starring Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross, a sort of Bourne replacement. The film received mixed reviews and was a bomb at the box office.
Now, Damon’s finally signed up for the fifth film after a string of critical disappointments since, from ‘We Bought a Zoo’ to ‘Elysium’ to ‘Monuments Men’ and more.
Producer Frank Marshall tweeted the said photo and captioned: “First day of principal photography complete and happy to report, BOURNE is back! #Bourne2016”
The film also stars Tommy Lee Jones, Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel and Julia Stiles, and is directed by Paul Greengrass.
