Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie are Now Married
Power couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were secretly married in France on Saturday.
While the actor had originally planned to wait until gay marriage was legal in the US, he reveals the pressure from the children is strong.
“Every single day their kids asked them to get married,” a close friend of the actor said, adding “they finally broke them down and got their wish.”
Back in 2006, Pitt told ‘Esquire’: “When someone asked me why Angie and I don’t get married, I replied, ‘Maybe we’ll get married when it’s legal for everyone else.’ I stand by that, although I took a lot of flak for saying it–hate mail from religious groups. I believe everyone should have the same rights. They say gay marriage ruins families and hurts kids. Well, I’ve had the privilege of seeing my gay friends being parents and watching their kids grow up in a loving environment.”
Pitt revealed to ‘USA Today’ that his kids were pushing for marriage and that his previous commitment to waiting was possibly wavering. “The kids ask about marriage,” he said. “It’s meaning more and more to them. So it’s something we’ve got to look at.”
The duo were married in Château Miraval in France in a small ceremony attended by no more than 22 relatives and close friends.
Eldest sons Maddox, 1313, and Pax, 10, got the honour of walking their mom down the aisle, while daughters Zahara, 9, and Vivienne, 6, spread rose petals on their path to the altar.
