Steve Grand Blown Away by Fans’ Support
Steve Grand’s loyal fans have catapulted his debut album campaign to one of the top 10 most funded music projects in Kickstarter’s history.
The openly gay singer only wanted his fans to donate $81,000 to fund his first album, but instead, they gave him so much more. Just 17 hours after the Feb. 26 launch, fans busted through Steve’s funding goal.
Now, with just 15 days left, almost 3 times of the original amount has been raised, totaling $213,500 and counting, which resulted in his upcoming album becoming one of the top 10 most funded projects in Kickstarter history.
“Blown away,” Grand wrote to fans on a Facebook post. “This is no longer just an album. YOU have made it a movement.
“YOU weren’t satisfied with giving just enough to get this record produced. YOU seem determined to put this album on the same playing field as artists backed by major labels who usually dominate the airwaves. Every dollar now means we can market and promote this album to an even wider audience.”
He added: “Big labels spend millions to make hit records. But together, we’re doing this $10, $15 and $25 at a time.”
