Tim Tebow to Speak at Anti-Gay Church
NFL quarterback Tim Tebow has been known to wear Bible verses on his eye black and to use his status in the sports world to promote Christian principles. And now he is going another further to speak at a megachurch whose pastor has spoken out against homosexuality.
Tebow will be the main speaker at First Baptist Church in Dallas on April 28, the same church run by controversial evangelical pastor Rev. Robert Jeffress, who has been outspoken on his anti-gay beliefs, saying “70 percent of the gay population” has AIDS, and referred to it as “a gay disease.” The pastor has also described gays as “perverse,” “miserable” and “abnormal” people who engage in an “unnatural” and “filthy practice” that will lead to the “implosion of our country.” And in 2012, he warned that homosexuality leads to pedophilia declaring that “there are a disproportionate amount of assaults against children by homosexuals than by heterosexuals, you can’t deny that.”
Tebow has never delved into the topic of homosexuality or even hinted toward views quite as extreme as Jeffress, but his association with the outspoken reverend has raised some eyebrows.
